Remove the thawed steak from its packing, pat dry, and lightly oil both sides. Season with salt and pepper and heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a cast-iron pan over high heat. Cook the ribeye for 3 minutes on one side, then turn and cook for another 3 minutes on the other. Continue turning for an additional one minute on each side, until the internal temperature meets your preference. Remove from heat and cover for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
